About My Art and Me

help, policies & faq

Hello! My name is Neal Covert, based in Mammoth Lakes, California, where the surrounding landscape, wildlife, weather, and everyday details inspire a lot of the art I make. My work involves practical client projects and personal art projects. Sharing my own work and using my art to help other people in my community. Neal Does Art is home for my photography, graphic design, and all my artwork. This website keeps my scatter-brained art projects organized and motivates me to keep making more art! Exploring Neal Does Art, you’ll find a wide variety of different disciplines within photography and graphic design. Oscillating among so many different types of art keeps my brain active and always learning, creating work that feels true to myself. Using my art to help someone promote a business, document an event, prepare a property listing, or bring an original image into a finished product. I’ve worked with a local business that needed programs, flyers, logos, business cards, and photography. By providing custom photography and a new logo, I helped them update their branding and create results that aligned with their vision. Neal Does Art is built around the idea that art can be fun, professional, and accessible at the same time: something you can hire, collect, gift, use, or enjoy.

Through Neal Does Art, I offer services for people, businesses, properties, events, products, and creatives alike. Using photography and graphic design, combining practical visual communication with a bold, approachable art style. My work includes real estate photography, event and business photography, portraits, custom design projects, restoration, print-ready file support, fine art prints, stickers, bookmarks, postcards, and other small creative goods. Creating something for a client or developing artwork for my own shop, I care about making the final result clear, intentional, useful, and ready for its purpose.

ethics

and

morals

Neal Does Art is built around honesty, accessibility, usefulness, and care. My work spans photography, graphic design, physical products, and client services. The goal stays the same: create work that feels emotionally connected to its purpose. Whether making artwork for my shop, photographing property, documenting an event, designing print pieces, or helping someone bring an idea to life, I value clarity, communication, and respect for the people, places, and subjects involved. I do not believe there is a perfectly ethical way to consume, create, or run a small business in modern society. Most tools, platforms, products, and supply chains come with impacts. What I can do is stay aware of those impacts, make deliberate choices, avoid unnecessary harm where I can, and be honest about how my work is made.

Photography Ethics

Photography is the foundation of much of my work, covering landscapes, wildlife, public places, events, businesses, portraits, products, and real estate. The goal is to represent each subject clearly and thoughtfully. Some photography is meant to document real moments. Some is tailored for businesses or properties to present them at their best. Some images become physical products, such as prints, stickers, bookmarks, and other creative items. In every case, I strive for honesty about the image's purpose, creation, and usage.

With my client photography, I create images that are useful and appropriate for the project. Real estate photography should make a space look clean and inviting, but not misrepresented. Event photography should capture the moment without forcing every image to feel staged. Product and business photography should help people understand what is offered. My goal is to make clear, polished, purposeful artwork.

Design Ethics

My graphic design work prioritizes clear communication. Designs should look good but must also function effectively. With everything, including logos, business cards, flyers, postcards, posters, restoration, and redesigns, my goal is to create results that are readable, practical, and suited to their intended use. I believe simplicity leads to effectiveness. Strong visuals help people quickly understand the message, not obscure it.

I use AI as a support tool in parts of my creative and business process. It helps me organize ideas, test wording, plan layouts, explore visual directions, compare options, and speed up repetitive planning tasks. I do not use AI as a replacement for my photography, final judgment, client communication, or the hands-on decisions that shape the finished work.

When AI is used, I treat it like a sketchbook, assistant, or planning tool. It can help me think through directions, organize information, or test an idea before I make final decisions. Final artwork, client work, product decisions, edits, and presentation choices are reviewed and finished by me. For photography-based products, the source images are my own original photographs unless otherwise stated.

AI does not replace the experience of being present with a camera, working with a client, choosing the final edit, preparing files correctly, or deciding whether a piece feels finished. It is not the author of Neal Does Art. It is one tool in the process, and I use it with the understanding that the responsibility for the finished work is still mine.
