How are products made?
My fine-art photography begins with my original photographs. Some products are professionally produced by outside print providers. Materials, finishes, and available options vary by product.
-
Neal Does Art is my artist-run business where I create and share original photography, artwork, and creative products.
It's a place for the things I enjoy making, whether that's a photograph from the mountains, an experimental design, or something that eventually becomes a print, sticker, or other product.
-
I'm Neal Covert, the artist and photographer behind Neal Does Art.
I handle the creative direction, photography, editing, and development of my artwork and products. Some of the finished physical products are made with the help of professional production partners.
-
I'm based in Mammoth Lakes, California, surrounded by the Eastern Sierra.
The area has a big influence on my photography, but my work isn't limited to one location or subject.
You can explore my artwork online and find selected products at local retail locations.
-
ART FOR ALL is the idea behind Neal Does Art.
I believe art should be approachable and something people can connect with in their own way.
You shouldn't need to understand the art world or spend a fortune to enjoy something creative. Art can hang on your wall, become a gift, travel with you as a sticker, or simply be something you enjoy looking at.
-
Photography is a major part of what I do, particularly landscapes, wildlife, nature, and unexpected moments.
I also work with graphic design, visual experimentation, and other creative projects.
Not everything I make begins with a finished product in mind. Sometimes an idea starts as a personal experiment and eventually becomes something I decide to share or sell.
-
My primary focus is creating my own artwork and products.
I occasionally take on other creative projects, but client services are no longer the main focus of Neal Does Art.
For business-oriented printing, design, and related services, Mammoth Business Essentials is a useful place to start.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ABOUT NEAL DOES ART
SHOPPING & ARTWORK
-
You can browse available artwork and products through the online Shop at nealdoesart.com.
Selected products may also be available at physical retail locations around Mammoth Lakes.
Check the Out & About page for information about finding my work in person.
-
My products include fine-art photography prints, stickers, bookmarks, postcards, and other creative goods.
I also experiment with new ways to turn artwork into useful, decorative, or collectible products.
The selection changes as I create and release new work.
-
Yes. My fine-art photography begins with photographs I've taken myself.
I select, edit, and prepare those images for the final artwork.
If a photography-based product uses a different source or process, I aim to identify that clearly rather than presenting it as a photograph I personally captured.
-
My fine-art photography prints are physical reproductions of photographs I've created.
The original photograph and artistic editing are my work. Professional printing allows that artwork to be produced in different sizes and materials.
Each listing describes the product and its available options.
-
Depending on the artwork, options may include aluminum metal prints, acrylic, fine-art paper, canvas, or other available formats.
Not every material is available for every product.
Check the individual product listing to see the current options.
-
Each material presents the photograph differently.
Metal prints offer a rigid, contemporary display surface. Acrylic provides a glossy presentation with a sense of depth. Fine-art paper offers a more traditional photographic print, while canvas creates a different surface texture and appearance.
The right choice depends on the artwork, how you want to display it, and your personal preference.
-
I'm particularly fond of metal prints, especially with a float mount.
I like their presentation, durability, and the way they work with much of my photography.
That doesn't mean metal is the right choice for every photograph or every space. Acrylic, paper, and other formats can work beautifully too.
If you're unsure, feel free to ask.
-
Mounting options depend on the material and size of the print.
Some products may offer float mounts, French cleat mounts, stands, or other display methods.
Review the mounting choices in the product listing before ordering.
-
Frames and mounting options vary by product.
Don't assume a traditional frame is included unless the product listing specifically says so.
If you're unsure how a print is intended to be displayed, contact me before ordering.
-
Some of my fine-art print listings include artist-signing information.
Check the individual product description for the details associated with that print.
If having a signed print is important to you, feel free to confirm before purchasing.
-
Possibly!
Some photographs can be produced in sizes that aren't currently listed.
Whether another size is possible depends on the original image, its proportions, and the available production options.
Send me the artwork title and the size you're considering, and I'll see what's possible.
-
You're welcome to ask.
Some artwork may be available in additional materials, finishes, or mounting configurations.
Availability depends on the photograph and production options, so I can't guarantee every combination.
-
Absolutely, you're welcome to ask.
If there's an existing photograph or design you'd like to see as a different kind of product, let me know what you have in mind.
I may not be able to make everything, but I'm always interested in exploring possibilities that fit the artwork.
-
It depends on the product.
I create and prepare my original artwork, while some of the physical products are manufactured by professional production partners.
For example, some of my fine-art photography prints are professionally produced through Bay Photo.
Product materials and production details may vary.
-
Not necessarily.
Different screens display brightness, color, and contrast differently. Print materials and finishes can also affect the final appearance.
I prepare my artwork with the finished print in mind, but some differences between a digital preview and a physical product are normal.
-
Room mockups help demonstrate how artwork might look when displayed.
They are visual examples rather than precise measurements of how a particular size will appear in your room.
Always use the dimensions listed with the product when choosing a size.
-
Purchasing a physical print does not automatically include a downloadable digital image.
If digital files or downloads are offered for a particular product or gallery, the available options should be identified separately.
ORDERS, RETURNS & PRODUCT PROBLEMS

No. Neal Does Art does not accept change-of-mind returns or exchanges.

If you're unsure about something, I'm happy to answer questions before you purchase.
-
Unfortunately, incorrect size selections do not qualify for ordinary returns or exchanges.
Please double-check the listed dimensions before ordering.
If you're trying to decide between sizes, contact me and I can help explain the available options.

For small products measuring 8×10 or less, including stickers, bookmarks, postcards, and small prints, I may offer one of two resolutions depending on the circumstances:
A replacement item, with a flat $5 replacement-shipping charge paid by the customer.
A partial refund of up to 30% of the item's purchase price.
Please contact me with photographs of the damage so I can review the situation. Any additional rights required by law still apply.
-
For fine-art prints larger than 8×10, the standard damaged-arrival resolution is an exact replacement of the original artwork, size, and finish.
Please contact me with your order information and photographs of the damage.
I'll review the issue and help arrange the replacement, subject to any additional remedies required by law.
-
Please notify me within 7 days of delivery if an item arrives damaged.

This is my standard damage-reporting procedure and does not limit any rights required by applicable law.

Providing these details helps me review the situation and determine the appropriate next step.

Photographs of the packaging may help explain what happened during shipping.
Contact me before returning or disposing of a damaged product.
-

I'll explain the next steps after reviewing the information you provide.

I'll review the order and help resolve the discrepancy.

Please contact me with your order information and photographs showing the problem.
I'll review the issue to determine the appropriate resolution.
Defective or incorrectly supplied products may involve remedies beyond the standard change-of-mind return policy.
-
Contact me as soon as possible if you need to request a change.
Some products may enter production after an order is placed, and changes may not be possible once that process begins.
I can't guarantee that every cancellation or modification request can be accommodated. Applicable consumer rights still apply.
-
Email me with your name, order number, and any available shipping or tracking information.
I'll help review the order and determine what information is available about its delivery.

-
Buying artwork is one way, but it isn't the only way.
Sharing my work with someone who might enjoy it, following my creative projects, visiting local displays, or simply coming back to see what's new all help people discover Neal Does Art.
There's no requirement to spend money to appreciate the art.
-
I create and develop new work as time and projects allow.
Not everything I photograph or experiment with becomes a product immediately.
The Shop and my public updates are the best places to see what I've finished and made available.
ON-THE-SPOT SHOTS & PHOTO GALLERIES
-
On-the-Spot Shots is my approach to spontaneous photography.
Sometimes I'm out walking, attending a gathering, exploring somewhere, or simply carrying my camera when something catches my attention.
I photograph moments I find interesting and may later share selected images in public galleries.
It's part of my own creative practice rather than a scheduled photography assignment.
-
No.
On-the-Spot Shots is photography I choose to create while I'm out with my camera.
I may photograph at public events or gatherings without being the official event photographer.
It doesn't mean I've been hired to document the event or photograph particular people.
-
Start with the Out & About page, where you can find information about On-the-Spot photography and public galleries.
If photographs from an event have been published, the appropriate gallery is the place to browse them.
-
No.
I review and select the photographs I want to share.
Some images may not meet my creative or technical standards, while others may remain unpublished for personal, practical, or ethical reasons.
-
Not necessarily.
Taking a photograph doesn't guarantee that it will be selected, edited, or published.
If you're looking for an image from a particular event, check the available gallery first.
-
Download options depend on the individual gallery.
When downloads are available, you'll see the relevant options within the gallery.
-
Some galleries may offer print-purchasing options.
Availability, sizes, products, and pricing depend on the gallery and photograph.
Check the individual gallery for its available options.
-
Yes.
If you recognize yourself in one of my public photographs and would like the image removed, contact me with a link or enough information to identify it.
I'll remove the photograph from my public gallery upon request.
-
I take a more cautious approach when children are recognizable subjects.
For public galleries or promotional uses connected to Neal Does Art, I seek permission from a parent or legal guardian before publishing a photograph where a recognizable child is the primary subject.
I also consider the circumstances and whether publishing the photograph would be appropriate.
-
Please check the permissions and available options for that particular gallery.
Being able to view or download a photograph doesn't automatically mean it can be used for advertising, commercial promotion, or other purposes.
If you're unsure whether a particular use is permitted, contact me before using the image.
ART, PHOTOGRAPHY & CREATIVE PROCESS
-
My original photography begins with photographs I take myself.
I don't present AI-generated images as photographs I captured.
I may use AI in other parts of my creative or business workflow, but I remain responsible for the finished work.
-
I use AI as a tool for tasks such as brainstorming, organizing ideas, exploring written language, comparing design options, and improving repetitive workflows.
I don't treat it as a replacement for making my own creative decisions.
When meaningful AI-generated content affects what a customer is purchasing, I believe that should be communicated clearly.
-
Yes.
Editing is part of how I finish my photographs.
I may adjust color, exposure, contrast, cropping, and other visual details to create the final image.
I aim to preserve the integrity of what I photographed rather than deliberately misrepresent a scene as something it wasn't.
-
The welfare of the animal comes before getting the photograph.
I try to maintain appropriate distances, respect sensitive habitats and restrictions, and avoid causing unnecessary disturbance.
If making a photograph would put pressure on the animal or its environment, I'd rather miss the photograph.
-
Some locations are sensitive.
Sharing precise information about wildlife, nesting areas, or vulnerable habitats can sometimes create additional pressure on those places.
When appropriate, I may use a broader location description rather than identifying an exact spot.
-
I want to make work that interests me and that I feel is worth sharing.
That includes being thoughtful about what I photograph, the people and places involved, and how the finished work is presented.
I don't believe every creative choice is perfectly ethical or without consequences, but I try to be aware of those choices and responsible for what I make.
